What are the signs that you need hormone replacement therapy?

Jun 09, 2022

What is hormone replacement therapy?

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a treatment used to relieve hormonal symptoms that people may experience. Hormonal imbalances occur when there is too much or too little of a hormone in the bloodstream. Because of their essential role in the body, even the smallest hormone imbalance can cause side effects throughout the body.

Hormone replacement therapy can be used to address and remedy a hormonal imbalance to get your hormone levels back to normal and relieve symptoms that you are experiencing.

What is bioidentical hormone replacement therapy?

Bioidentical hormone therapy is a type of hormone replacement therapy that uses hormones that are identical to the hormones our bodies produce.

Bioidentical hormone therapy is sometimes called “natural hormone therapy” because it uses hormones that are naturally derived, as opposed to synthetic hormones used in other types of hormone replacement therapy.

The most common bioidentical hormones are estrogens, progesterone, and testosterone. These hormones can be made from plant sources such as yams and soybeans, though they can also be made in a laboratory using chemical processes. Once they are created, bioidentical hormones are identical to the hormones our bodies produce.

What problems is HRT used to address?

Hormone replacement therapy can be used to treat a variety of problems that people experience. This includes:

  • Menopause symptoms (early menopause or regular menopause)
  • Osteoporosis
  • Hot flashes
  • Night sweats
  • Mood swings or mood changes
  • Depression
  • Vaginal dryness or atrophy
  • Low libido
  • Unexplained weight gain
  • A known hormone deficiency

Women and Hormones

We focus on regulating hormones pre and post menopausal, regulating menstrual cycles, and assessing for estrogen dominance
Low testosterone is common in women as well.
Upregulating testosterone in women can protect against osteoporosis, cardiac disease, high cholesterol, and improve stamina, libido, lean muscle mass, decrease fat mass, better sleep and mood
Women in menopause deserve safer options to battle and treat their menopausal symptoms
Bioidentical hormone replacement is much safer than traditional synthetic options. Combining both estrogen and testosterone can improve quality of life and also prevent early onset mortality in women with low estrogen levels.

How to Recognize if I Need HRT

Low libido, vaginal dryness, hot flashes, night sweats, fatigue, irritability, incontinence, menopausal symptoms, weight gain or inability to lose weight despite diet and exercise are all common symptoms of imbalances in estrogen and testosterone levels. If you experience any of these symptoms, you may need HRT to balance hormone levels.

If you feel that you may be experiencing a hormone imbalance, talk to your doctor.
