Mental Health: Are you coping with burnout, depression, or exhaustion?

Services - Mental Health

Burnout, depression, exhaustion – these are all very real & potentially crippling conditions for people in today’s world but it’s not game over & it doesn’t always need artificial medication to be treated.

Mental health doesn’t receive nearly as much attention as it should in our society but doesn’t it make sense that with as much time that we spend on physical health, taking care of the computer controlling everything (our mind) is at least as important as physical fitness, if not more so?

If you’re suffering from burnout, depression, or exhaustion, you may only need a slight hormonal adjustment to nudge you back on track – neurotransmitters and hormones communicate and work together as one system, defining the essence of the brain/body connection and the emotional and physiological response to perceived stress. Burnout can contribute to hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis dysregulation.

Let’s break the HPA axis down:

Neurotransmitters are the chemical messengers of the nervous system, essential for relaying signals within the brain and communicating with all organ systems of the body & cortisol is secreted in a circadian rhythm controlled by the hypothalamus which receives input from the environment, and cortisol levels are determined by the overall health of the adrenal glands.

A neurotransmitter/adrenal imbalance is an underlying cause for the improper functioning of the communication system of the body, and ultimately result in general disorders like obesity, migraine headaches, depression, ADHD, and anxiety. A proper diet may help with HPA-D but you should definitely get your hormones tested to know your specific needs because no two people are alike.

By testing neurotransmitter and adrenal hormone biomarkers, we can identify specific levels to determine where you are lacking or overproducing, therefore balancing you out back to baseline. We have successfully treated patients’ depression and anxiety through this method of testing, placing them on supplements to meet their individual needs all the while weaning them off their anxiety and antidepressant medications.

Chronic low or high cortisol levels can leave you with anxiety fatigue and can be supported and corrected as well, giving you the opportunity to feel your best. If you are feeling burnt out, let’s taking a deeper look at what’s going on inside.
